Acclaimed Texas Pianist Returning To Stage Weeks After Kids Murdered

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - World famous pianist Vadym Kholodenko is returning to the North Texas stage less than three weeks after he found his two daughters dead and his estranged wife injured.

After an investigation and brief hospital stay Sofya Tsygankova was charged with Capital Murder. The 31-year-old pled not guilty and is being held on a $2 million bond.

According to court records, Tsygankova and Kholodenko were in the middle of a contested divorce.

Last month, Kholodenko had gone to pick up his oldest daughter for school at a home in the 6600 block of Waterwood Trail. When he got there, he found his estranged wife "was going crazy and was covered in blood."

Days after the death of his children Kholodenko used music to pay tribute to their memories, during a memorial service held in the girl's honor.

Now the Ukrainian native and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra Artistic Partner will again use music to heal. Announcing that he will resume his planned concert tour on April 14,  Kholodenko issued the following statement:

"In this time of extreme loss and sorrow, I must look to music which has been so important in my life, and through which I can express myself. I ask those who will attend my concerts to also focus on the music. I continue to be grateful for those who are sending support from all over the world."

The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra started a fund in the name of the slain children. The family has requested contributions be made to the Nika and Michela Kholodenko Young Artist Fund.

Anyone wanting to contribute can send a check or money order to:
