About 200 Meet About Last Week's Flooding

Less than a week after Arlington's massive flooding, some of the victims turned up to meet with city leaders and Congressman Joe Barton last night.  Residents were told a 12-million dollar project to relieve flooding along Rush Creek is still being planned but it likely won't even begin for another five or six years.  When Arlington received five inches of rain before noon last Wednesday, Rush Creek overflowed its banks and caused several feet of flooding in some West Arlington neighborhoods.  Roughly 200 residents turned out for the meeting, which was, at times, rather emotional as flood victims described their plight.  Most of them raised their hands when Barton asked whether they'd be interested in selling there homes to the city for fair market value.  That's not thought to be very likely unless there's federal money to pay for it.
