First Alert Weather Day

A tornado warning watch is in effect for parts of North Texas.

A Windy Warm Week Ahead

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - We have a steady (even brisk) south wind overnight going to make for a very warm night in the upper 60's. It'll be rather muggy as well- a night more typical of the first week of June really. Partly cloudy skies, a sliver of a moon is dropping below the horizon with the sun's departure.

VERY WINDY DAY TOMORROW

Sunday is going to flirt with 90° weather , at least upper 80's with dewpoints in the 60's. Dry air (the cap) keeps storms from popping up in the daytime heating but a strong low pressure system is forming over the central plains. This is going to kick up the winds to gusts around 35mph by afternoon. I'm forecasting a high of 88° with near mid-90's over in Jack, Palo Pinto and Erath counties. With the dryline moving into these areas in the afternoon we'll grow concerned about grass fires. I'll remind everyone again that all of north Texas is in either moderate or extreme drought. This is even a slight chance as we close the day that strong, brief storms could form along the eastern edge of the dryline close to Fort Worth.

RAIN/STRONG STORMS TOMORROW NIGHT, MONDAY MORNING

A cold front is arriving Monday morning. Ahead of it we should have the cap break overnight with another window of strong storms opening up. The better chance for severe weather runs From Denton and Cooke Counties over to the east along the Red River. These storms could be going on late night into early morning into Monday. Rain coverage looks to be 40%, rather meager really in the big picture need for significant rain.

MONDAY: STARTS WET, STAYS WINDY

I expect a the rain/storms to be around Monday morning, mostly east of DFW at we get later in the morning. Wind will be out of the northwest and very brisk; another afternoon where wind gust will get close to 35mph. Highs will barely reach 70 degrees, almost 20 degrees cooler than the day before. Of course the morning clouds/rain and wind will make it seem much cooler than that.

REST OF THE WORK WEEK

The big story is Tuesday morning for this time period. In the metro I expect lows in the low 40's but it'll drop to the upper 30's in the outlying areas. Burrrr. Not a whole lot to chat about in concern for the rest of week.. Right back to dry weather. Tuesday afternoon will again be cooler, in the low 70's and sunny. By Wednesday we reach again into the low 80's, mid-80's on tap for Thu-Sat. There look to be slight chances at least for some rain by next weekend.
