Real Estate Agency Offers Veterans Big Savings
MCKINNEY, TX (CBSDFW.COM) - A North Texas real estate agency is offering veterans who are looking to move into a new home a chance to save thousands of dollars.
With an active 2-year-old son, Mark Watson and his wife Jennifer of McKinney are looking to move into a bigger home with a larger piece of land. The Marine veteran will save thousands of dollars when he sells because his real estate agency will waive all of its closing costs. "It certainly relieves a lot of stress and there's already a lot of stress when you buy and sell a home," said Watson.
Step Up Realty is offering the incentive to homeowners who served in the military. But since the Step Up for Vets Program began months ago, only two families have taken advantage of it. "We're working with organizations to get the word out and now they are slowly starting to come to us and take advantage of it," said Audrey Reed of Step Up Realty.
The McKinney veteran, who now works as a Collin County Sheriff's deputy, says the offer will allow him and his wife more choices for a new home by saving more than ten thousand dollars.
"I'm a school nurse so I don't make a whole lot either, so I think that would be really helpful. So I'm just really thankful," said Jennifer Watson.
The real estate company says it's willing to absorb the cost of helping veterans. Watson says he feels like their sacrifice was appreciated and that it will someday pay off.
