Guy Time in Frisco
By Jill Krause
Sometimes the guys just need to get away and spend some quality, well, GUY time together. Here is a whole day of activities with the guys in the Frisco area, and none of them involve sitting in the dressing room of Nordstrom's while your girl tries on another dress.
Start Your Day With Coffee
Global Peace Factory Coffee House
1377 Legacy Dr., Suite 100
Frisco, TX 75034
(241) 705-2664
Hours: Daily 7am-9pm
Website & Reviews
This isn't the same ol' coffee chain you'll find on every corner. Global Peace Factory Coffee House is a one-of-a-kind establishment, located in Frisco. They specialize in gourmet coffee and sandwiches, so if you need more than an Americano or espresso to start your day, there are plenty of menu items that are sure to fill you up.
You'll even get to leave with a warm, fuzzy feeling, knowing at least 2% of your bill is going to charity. A caffeine buzz AND a charitable high? Sounds like a great way to start the day.
A Little Pampering, Man Style
The Gent's Place
6975 Lebanon Rd., Suite 303
Frisco, TX 75034
(469) 579-4417
Hours: Mon to Thurs 10am-8pm; Fri 10am-7pm; Saturday 9am-6pm; Sun 11am-5pm
Website & Reviews
This isn't your lady's salon, nor is it your run of the mill barbershop. The Gent's Place is a Men's Grooming Club that specializes in giving "discerning gentlemen" a quality haircut, massage or shave in a luxurious and modern environment. The bar area awaits you as you walk in, and is furnished with plush leather chairs and an HDTV. With each appointment you get a complimentary beer, whiskey or wine. They also offer cigars.
Services range from a three-, five- or seven- course haircut to a master barber cut with straight razor neck shave. It's recommended you call ahead to make an appointment or do it online.
Break for Lunch
Palio's Pizza Cafe
3492 Legacy Dr.
Frisco, TX 75034
(214) 705-7400
Hours: Sun to Thurs 11am-9pm; Fri to Sat 11am-10pm
Website & Reviews
Whether you're craving a light or heavy lunch after all that man pampering, Palio's menu's got your covered. They serve up fresh salads, pastas and, of course, pizzas every day for lunch. What you won't find here is a drink menu, but Palio's does allow you to BYOB.
Get Competitive With A Game of Hoops
Fieldhouse USA
6155 Sports Village Rd.
Frisco, TX 75033
(972) 668-6207
Website & Reviews
Fieldhouse USA is an indoor sports complex with 12 basketball courts. While most of the time these courts are occupied by league practices and tournament play, you can usually rent one (or half of one) for a game of pick-up (or H-O-R-S-E, we won't judge) after 4 on weekdays. A 1/2 court rental costs $40 per hour and a full court rental will run you $60 per hour. You'll have to call ahead to check availability and make a reservation.
Wrap Up The Day With TVs and Bar Food
Fox Sports Grill
The Shops At Legacy
5741 Legacy Rd.
Plano, TX 75024
(972) 312-1369
Hours: Sun to Thurs 11am-midnight; Fri to Sat 11am-2am
Website & Reviews
Fox Sports Grill is located in The Shops at Legacy. It's technically in Plano, but it's close to the Frisco area. The menu includes all the traditional sports bar fare you'd expect, and there are TVs everywhere you turn, but Fox Sports Grill takes it a step beyond your typical sports bar. The environment is clean and modern, while remaining comfortable. The menu also has more variety to it than just cheese fries and hot wings.
