GRAPEVINE (CBSDFW.COM) - About two dozen American Airlines pilots and flight attendants showed up for a memorial commemorating the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks on Tuesday morning. The event took place at the 9/11 Flight Crew Memorial in Grapevine, located just to the north of DFW International Airport.

There were no speakers or speeches, just silence as a Grapevine Fire Department bell rang four times in remembrance of the four commercial planes that crashed that day.

Capt. John Hale, a pilot for American Airlines, said that it could have been him on one of those planes. He often piloted the flight out of Boston.

Flight attendant Shirley Evatt said that she is still saddened about the lives lost that day.

The 9/11 Flight Crew Memorial is dedicated to the 33 flight crew members killed during the terrorist attacks. It includes a pilot, co-pilot, two flight attendants and a child. The child represents the passengers.
