80-Year-Old Grandma Hurt In Drive-By Shooting

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - An 80-year-old grandmother was wounded late Tuesday night in a drive-by shooting that narrowly missed striking a 1-year-old child. Police were called just after 10:30 p.m. to a home in the 5500 block of Patton Drive, on Fort Worth's east side.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they found that the house had been shot multiple times.
The woman, who has been identified as retired math teacher Margaret Bracken, had been sleeping in a front bedroom when was struck in the arm by one of the bullets. She was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition and has since been released.
Family members said that there were two adults and three children inside of the home at the time. The bullet that struck the grandmother came in though a window and passed into the wall of the bedroom. On the other side of that wall was a 1-year-old child. Family members explained that the bullet missed the baby by inches.
The other kids are ages 8 and 12.
"It was like, unbelievable," said the victim's grandson, Roshawn Moore. "She had been here over 50 years, and it's hard to put a hand on who could have done something like this."
Police in Fort Worth do not have a motive for the shooting at this point, and have not released any details about possible suspects. "She's shook up, because she don't know who did it," Moore added. "It's hard at this time on us."
