LEWISVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - Shot just a few houses away from his own home, Lewisville Police are investigating a possible road-rage incident that has left a 73-year-old man in the hospital.
A hospital spokesperson the Medical Center of Lewisville confirmed the victim, Kenneth Foster, is in serious condition and was undergoing surgery Wednesday night.
Investigators said Foster was shot by a 51-year-old driver who told police he felt his life was being threatened when he opened fire.
Neighbor Becky Jorgenson said she ran outside after the shot was fired.
"He felt like a rock had hit him or something. He was very out of it. He didn't realize he was shot," said Jorgenson. "He looked very still, kind of in shock is what I think it was. He didn't realize, he was like, 'I think I'm okay.' I was like dude, you're totally bleeding. You're shot."
Police said the 51-year-old drive called 911 shortly after opening fire and told emergency operators he was in fear for his life when he used his gun.
Investigators said the alleged shooter is cooperating with investigators and was taken to the police station for questioning Wednesday night.
It is unclear if police will file any charges against anyone involved.
