6 Fort Worth Police Officers Fired In OT Dispute
FORT WORTH (AP) - Six Fort Worth police officers have been fired in an overtime investigation linked to traffic tickets and funding from a federal grant program.
A police statement Wednesday night says all six officers are indefinitely suspended, which is equivalent to termination.
All six can appeal.
No charges were immediately filed. A federal investigation is ongoing.
Police Chief Jeffrey Halstead has suspended all overtime under the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program, known as STEP.
Police say the officers had been on the force ranging from five to 22 years.
