Sixth Tiger Dies From Canine Distemper In Wylie
WYLIE (CBSDFW.COM) - An outbreak of canine distemper at a Wylie animal sanctuary has claimed its sixth victim, a male tiger named Kazuri.
"We lost our beautiful, friendly, chuffy, happy, playful, silly Kazuri this morning (Sunday)," In-Sync Exotics announced on its Facebook page. "He had seemed to be so much better, had a great day yesterday, but he passed this morning."

This marks the second death of a tiger at the wildlife rescue and education center since Aug. 8, when the organization announced the death of Lucca. The 13-year-old female tiger had suffered partial paralysis and seizures brought on by canine distemper.
A spokeswoman for the big cat sanctuary said they tried both traditional and experimental treatments to no avail.
"This is a particularly devastating loss for us; we were all so hopeful she would pull through."
In-Sync said 30 other big cats are infected.
Wildlife officials are working with veterinarians on the outbreak. Experts believe the canine distemper was transmitted by wild raccoons.
