4-Alarm Fire Destroys Dallas Apartment Building
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A four alarm fire forces dozens of families out of their homes at an apartment complex near Highway 75 and Royal.
Fire crews were called to the Advenir at Foxmore Aparmtments shortly after 5 p.m. on October 2. When they arrived they could see smoke and flames pouring from a unit on the third floor.
"Our guys saw really heavy fire coming from a unit on the third floor of the apartment building," said Jason Evans of Dallas Fire Rescue. "They were able to initially make an offensive attack but when they got inside they noticed there was smoke coming out of either end of the building at the roof line."
All 48 units were damaged and deemed uninhabitable. No injuries were reported.
"I smelled smoke in my room and the corridor was just full of smoke," said an apartment resident, who lived four doors down from where the fire started. "I got my car keys, my cell phone, my wallet went outside beat on all the doors and ran down the stairs."
The American Red Cross is working to find residents a place to stay. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
