4-Alarm At Keller Feed Store
KELLER (CBSDFW.COM) - An afternoon fire at a Keller business sent multiple crews into the 100 degree weather to fight it Thursday.
The 4-alarm fire broke out at the Keller Feed Store on Main Street in Keller around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Fire crews from Keller, Colleyville, Grapevine, Watauga, Southlake and Westlake were assisting in fighting the fire, which could be seen from Choper 11 as burning a large corrugated metal building. As firefighters attacked the building, portions of the metal roof could be seen bending and charring, and think black smoke could be seen billowing from the building's front door and holes in the roof.
Keller's fire chief told CBS 11 News propane cylinders and several drum filled with racing fuel exploded as the fire intensified.
Thursday's record setting heat posed another challenge firefighters. They were rotated out of the blaze every twenty minutes with an hour-long break rest to avoid being overcome by the extreme heat.
A portion of U.S. highway 377 was closed while emergency crews battled the fire. The highway reopened around 9 p.m. Thursday.

Initial estimates place the damage cost around $1 million.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The business is also listed as Keller Outdoor Power, a commercial and residential lawn and generator equipment company.
The building, according to Tarrant County tax records, was built in 1987.
