3 Suspects In Custody After Dallas RaceTrac Robbery

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Authorities in Dallas have taken three people into custody after a robbery at a gas station early Friday. It happened shortly after 3:00 a.m. at the RaceTrac location in the 7000 block of Greenville Avenue, just north of Park Lane.
According to police, two of the suspects stole cigarettes and cash after storming into the convenience store wearing masks and holding up customers at gunpoint. Investigators explained that the suspects took a wallet from one customer and a cell phone from another customer.
Those two men then jumped into a car with the third suspect and fled from the scene.
However, the group of suspects did not get very far. During the robbery, one customer was able to sneak into the restroom and call 911. Officers arrived in less than two minutes and spotted the suspects as they drove away.
A nine-minute chase ensued down Central Expressway to Illinois Avenue. The three suspects jumped from their vehicle at the Royal Crest Apartments, located along Linfield Drive, and were then taken into custody during a short foot pursuit. The stolen cigarettes were scattered throughout the street. The rest of the stolen property was recovered.
The suspects were identified as 38-year-old Frank Thomas Byers, 38-year-old Robert Taylor and 29-year-old Nathan Lenard Jackson. They have all been charged with aggravated robbery.
Fortunately, nobody was injured during this incident. The convenience store clerk and customers are all fine, according to the manager. But the RaceTrac location was closed for several hours early Friday while police were reviewing surveillance camera footage and interviewing witnesses. The store has since been opened back up for business.
