3 People Charged In East Texas Oil Tank Fire
VAN (CBSDFW.COM) - Three people -- two women and one man -- have been charged with trespassing and criminal mischief after an explosion and fire at an oil storage facility in rural Van Zandt County, just north of the East Texas town of Van. Officials identified the suspects as 24-year-old H.R. Price of Mineola, 24-year-old Brandy Wolfe of Grand Saline and 25-year-old Heather Wolfe of Van. Their arrests were announced on Thursday morning.
The explosion happened on January 29 when two individuals were smoking on top of an oil storage tank. Two of the facility's tanks caught on fire in the explosion and a third tank was later also burned. Two of the suspects were injured during the incident and eventually taken to Parkland Hospital in Dallas for treatment. They have since been released.
Warrants were issued for the three suspects on Wednesday and they surrendered to authorities. Bond was set at $150,000 and all three individuals were released from custody by Thursday.
The charges against these individuals include Criminal Mischief Over $200,000, which is a first-degree felony, and Criminal Trespass of a Critical Infrastructure, a Class A misdemeanor.
