2nd Mansfield H.S. Teen Dies From Car Crash Injuries
(CBSDFW.COM) - There has now been a third tragedy for Mansfield's Timberview High School.
A second teenager has died from a weekend car crash.
Investigators say the driver, 17-year-old Kimberly Pimentel, died Monday at a local hospital. The Saturday night crash also killed 15-year-old passenger Carlos Marquez.
Two classmates of Pimentel and Marquez were also in the car at the time of the crash and remain hospitalized.
All of the students had performed at a school play and had gone out to eat afterward. Police believe Pimentel was trying to pass a slower car when she lost control, veered into the median, and hit a tree on Highway 360, just north of the school.
Just last week, Timberview coach Cody McCarty died from a heart attack at the age of 29.
The school has brought in several grief counselors to help students and staff deal with the events of the past two weeks.
