2014 World Cup Odds: U.S. Faces Uphill Battle
BRAZIL (CBSDFW.COM) -- The U.S. Men's National Team faces long odds to win the 2014 World Cup. In fact, head coach Jurgen Klinsmann reiterated on Wednesday that it's unrealistic to expect the team to win the title.
But exactly what odds do the Americans face in winning the country's first World Cup? And will they even advance out of the "group of death"?
Recent odds (courtesy of Bovada) suggest that the US is an overwhelming underdog to advance out of Group G, which features favorites Germany and Portugal, as well as US-nemesis Ghana.
Oddsmakers give the US a 100/1 chance of making a miracle run to and winning the finals in Brazil. By comparison, the host country is a 3/1 favorite, while neighboring Mexico's odds are at 125/1.

Clint Dempsey, the team's captain, is most likely to lead the US in scoring, according to Bovada. Striker Jozy Altidore, who scored two goals in Saturday's tuneup win over Nigeria, is also a threat to lead the American scoring attack.
