FORT WORTH (CBS 11) — A Fort Worth family says they want to thank nearly 200 of their neighbors who helped rescue their missing 23-year-old family member, who has mental disabilities.
The woman went missing Tuesday in the Lake Como neighborhood in Fort Worth. Fifteen hours later she was found locked inside a man's apartment.
Dwayne Rusk, 27, was arrested on charges of aggravated sexual assault and kidnapping.
Since it's a sexual assault case, CBS 11 is not identifying the victim or her family, but her aunt said the family is very thankful for all those who searched.
"I don't know what people think about us out here in Como but we're all family out here," she said.
Family members and neighbors tracked down the suspect and confronted him at his Fort Worth apartment around 3:30 a.m.
"He was trying to pretend he didn't know what was going on," a family member said. "That is until he got beat up."
Police officers found the woman in Rusk's apartment, and she was taken to the hospital for examination.
Her family said she is "scarred" from what happened but added they are thankful she was found alive.
