2 Charged With Hunt County Toddler's Death
GREENVILLE (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - Two caregivers are facing capital murder charges in the death of a 2-year-old boy whose battered body was found in a car in North Texas.
The Hunt County Sheriff's Office says Arturo Vega and Gabriele Ortiz, both 22, are in the county jail under $2 million bond each. Officials charged them with the murder of Brandon Herrera early Tuesday morning.
Brandon's body was located after Vega and Ortiz called 911 Sunday morning to report the child had stopped breathing as they were driving to a hospital.
Paramedics examined the boy and found that he was already dead.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy on the boy. The autopsy report says he was killed by "homicidal violence with blunt force trauma."
