2 Texas Tech Players Accused Of Debit Card Abuse
LUBBOCK (AP) - Attorneys for two Texas Tech football players accused of using another person's debit card at a bar have denied the allegations.
Statements released Tuesday on behalf of freshmen Kenny Williams and Jace Amaro say both expect to be cleared.
Williams and Amaro were arrested Friday on state jail felony charges of unauthorized use of a credit or debit card. A law enforcement report also says Amaro had an altered driver's license. Both were freed on their own recognizance.
A Tech spokesman says both players remain on the team and should report back Monday following spring break.
Williams played for Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville. Amaro is out of MacArthur High School in San Antonio.
A state jail felony is punishable by six months to two years in prison.
