2 Teens Shot At Elementary School In Arlington

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - A disturbance outside of an Arlington elementary school on Tuesday night ended with two teenagers shot. The incident happened at about 10:30 p.m. outside of Glenn Harmon Elementary School, located along Petra Drive at Tennessee Trail.

Authorities said that gunfire erupted as a group of people stood near a portable school building, close to the playground. Police have not determined an exact motive or identified a suspect.

One teenager was shot in the side. He was able to run to a home along Tennessee Trail and call the police. Officials believe that he may have been hit while sprinting from the scene. The second teenage victim was shot in the head. He was later found on the school grounds and taken to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth. The current conditions of the two victims are not known.

Glenn Harmon Elementary School is part of the Mansfield Independent School District. Classes are scheduled to continue Wednesday as scheduled. But before kids and staff members arrived on Wednesday morning, police searched the campus for evidence. "We will continue to canvass this field to make sure there's no other weapons, no other contraband," said Sgt. Christopher Cook with the Arlington Police Department, "and to also just secure any type of physical evidence that may be present in the field."
