Intruder Killed In Parker County Was Homeowner's Stepson

WEATHERFORD (CBSDFW.COM) - A homeowner shot and killed an intruder who turned out to be his stepson in his Parker County home Wednesday morning. The incident occurred at about 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning in the 500 block of Spring Creek Parkway, just outside of Weatherford.

According to a Parker County Sheriff's Office report, barking dogs woke the male homeowner. The man then saw the back door of his house open and found an unknown man wearing a ski max, gloves and grasping a shotgun walking inside his home.

The homeowner had a weapon, as well. Gunfire was exchanged between the two. The homeowner was shot in the arm, while the intruder was killed. The homeowner told deputies the suspect stumbled from the house and fell on the porch. The homeowner then called 911.

Police and emergency workers arrived at the home and later pronounced the intruder dead at the scene. The homeowner is being treated at a Fort Worth hospital for a gunshot to the left hand/forearm area. His injuries are not life threatening.

Parker County Sheriff's crime scene investigators are investigating the incident and have passed it along to the Grand Jury, but charges have not been filed.
