2 Men Shot, 1 Fatally, Outside Dallas Strip Club
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas police are trying to track down a killer after a shooting outside a strip club. One of two men shot in the parking lot of Dallas Cabaret died this morning.
Investigators told a CBS 11 News crew that the club has surveillance cameras and that the shooting may have been captured on video.
The shooting happened around 4 a.m. at the strip club off of Harry Hines Boulevard. Police believe the two men were shot after a fight broke out in the parking lot, near a hot dog stand. The gunman is still on the loose.
Both victims were taken to Parkland Hospital, but one died from his injuries. Police have not released the names of either of the men, but the sister of the deceased man said her brother was 31-years-old and has two children.
The club was open at the time of the shooting, but no one else was injured.
Today's death is the 73rd murder in Dallas so far this year. Dallas police Lt. Chuck Young, with the Crimes Against Persons Division Special Investigations/Cold Case, said many of the cases have been solved but that there are about 20 unsolved cases that investigators have no leads on and have essentially gone cold.
The number of homicides this year is up more than 7-percent from last year. From January 1 until June 3, 2016 there were 66 murders in Dallas and there were 171 murders in all of 2016. Young said that at the rate it's going the city is on pace to match that number this year.
In the case of the Dallas Cabaret shooting, police took several people to the station for questioning and also talked to the man who runs the hot dog stand, but so far still have no leads on the identity of the shooter.
Investigators are in the process of reviewing the club surveillance video to try and identify a suspect.
