2 Men Expected To Go Free In 1999 Dallas Murder

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — Two men are expected to go free after the Dallas County district attorney's office agreed they were wrongfully convicted of murder based on prosecutorial misconduct.
A judge is expected to set bond Tuesday for Dennis Lee Allen and Stanley Orson Mozee.
Allen and Mozee were given life sentences for the 1999 murder of a south Dallas pastor, the Rev. Jesse Borns Jr. After the Innocence Project later took up their case, Dallas County authorities acknowledged the two men deserved to have their convictions overturned.
Prosecutor Russell Wilson said Monday that at least one witness was allowed to mislead jurors about why he was testifying, not saying that cases against him would be later reduced.
More than 30 men wrongfully convicted in Dallas have been freed in the last decade.
This past July former prisoner Michael Phillips was finally exonerated of the 1990 rape of a 16-year-old girl at a Dallas motel. Phillips, who always maintained his innocence, spent 12 years in prison for the crime.
