CORINTH (CBSDFW.COM) – Students are reeling in Corinth where it's the first day back to Guyer High School since a classmate was hit and killed crossing the street near campus.
Arely Naffarratte is the second student that has passed away from the school in just six weeks.
A husband and wife were in the vehicle, when the accident happened, according to police.
Naffarratte's family talked to CBS11, describing the 15-year-old as athletic and full of life with many friends.
Friends and family are devastated.
"Yeah, social media is out there so, through a simple Snap Chat or a text or a Facebook post or a tweet… you can find out what's going on. But it's not until you actually see your friends going through the pain or you don't see your friend who you're used to seeing every morning that it hits you," said student Mario Zavala.
Naffarratte's untimely death hits just as students are still coping with the death of Corey West, 16. He too was struck and killed while crossing a street in Denton about five miles away from where Naffarratte was hit.
