2 Dead After Head-On Crash Near Cleburne

CLEBURNE, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - At least two people are dead after a head-on crash near Cleburne Friday afternoon.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said the crash happened just before 4 p.m. near Park Road 21 and County Road 1224, southwest of Cleburne.

According to Texas DPS, a maroon pickup was traveling behind a white pickup north on Park Road 21, when they approached an intersection. Authorities said the maroon pickup, for an unknown reason, hit the back of the white pickup as it slowed down, causing the white pickup to go into a center turning lane and partially into the southbound lane.

A black pickup traveling southbound then crashed head-on into the white pickup, causing the white pickup to spin and catch fire, authorities said.

Two passengers of the white pickup were pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver and another passenger were transported to a hospital to treat injuries.

The driver of the black pickup was also taken to a hospital with injuries.

Texas DPS is continuing to investigate the crash and no other information was made available.
