2 Adults & 1 Child Killed In Arlington Crash
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Three people were killed early Wednesday morning in a three-car crash in Arlington. The incident happened at about 2:20 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate-30, between Fielder Road and Eastchase Parkway.
According to police, a small car carrying a man, woman and infant was traveling in the outside lane when it was hit from behind by a pickup truck occupied by a man, later identified as 41-year-old Benjamon Ray Stewart of Arlington. That impact left the small car disabled in the center lane of traffic.
That is when another pickup truck, occupied by a man and a woman and towing a flatbed trailer, struck the small car and pushed it into the inside shoulder of the highway. The three people inside of that small car all died during the crash. Their names have not been released.
Stewart allegedly attempted to flee from the scene. Authorities found his truck abandoned a short distance away from the crash site and found him hiding in a nearby wooded area. Stewart was taken into police custody and charged with three counts of intoxication manslaughter and one count of failing to stop and render aid.
The eastbound lanes of the highway were shut down early Wednesday morning as authorities and cleanup crews were on the scene.
