18-year-old ejected and killed in late-night Garland crash

An 18-year-old is dead following a late-night crash in Garland.

Garland police officers responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Garland Avenue and Stratford Drive just before 10:30 p.m. on Friday, according to a news release.

When they arrived, police found an individual who had been ejected from a vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary findings indicate that one vehicle was traveling east on Stratford Drive when it was struck by the oncoming vehicle heading south on Garland Avenue, the news release states.

Three people were inside each vehicle. The five surviving individuals - aged between 16 and 22 - were taken to the hospital.

Police found evidence of alcohol at the scene, the news release states. However, detectives are working to determine the cause of the crash and whether impairment was a factor.

The occupants' identities have not been released at this time.
