DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas police responded to more than 300 wrecks on Monday.

One of the most dramatic images of the day may still be there Tuesday along I-45 over Five Mile Creek:  An 18-wheeler danging over it.

As of 10 p.m. Monday, Dallas police officer are waiting on a crane to come lift the big rig back up over the edge.  They also need a heavy-duty wrecker to haul it away.

Police say the driver lost traction on the ice and slid off the highway.  He got out without any serious injuries.  Police say he opened the door, jumped to the bank and crawled up.

A CBS 11 camera caught a not-so-random act of kindness at the scene.  An officer offered up her heavy coat to the driver who hesitated at first, but ultimately accepted it.

Traffic was still moving slowly at 10 p.m. Monday on northbound I-45 where there's just one lane open.  That lane will close when crews arrive to move the truck and police say they're not sure when that will happen.
