18-Wheeler Loses Load Of Lumber On Loop 12

IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - There was hours of frustration for some North Texas commuters today.

It was all because of an 18-wheeler accident on the south side of Loop 12, near Highway 183.

The semi was carrying a load of lumber. The driver reportedly said he was trying to avoid hitting another vehicle and nearly jackknifed his truck.

The incident left the 18-wheeler sprawled across several lanes and the load of wood all over the highway.

In addition to the lumber, one of the truck's saddle tanks was damaged and fuel spilled onto the roadway.

One lane of traffic was allowed to pass for more than half an hour, but the entire roadway was closed so hazardous materials crews could clean up the mess. Traffic was diverted onto westbound Highway 183.

The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. and the roadway wasn't reopened until after the lunch hour.
