1-Year-Old Dead In Dallas Apartment Identified, Mom Arrested

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Police have released the name of the name of the baby found dead Thursday afternoon.

Officers found the body of 1-year-old Elijahu Perez after the child's father flagged down police asking for help.

According to authorities, police driving on Singleton Boulevard were flagged down by a man saying his wife had just called him and said their son was dead.

Officers followed the man to the Highland Road Village Apartments, in West Oak Cliff. Once there officers found Elijahu deceased. There are indications the boy may have been drowned in a bathtub. The child had just celebrated his first birthday on August 8.

Also at the apartment was the child's mother, Chloe Menager, who was initially detained and questioned, then later arrested. Menager, 25, is charged with Capital Murder.

Residents at the apartment complex near Mountainview College were upset to hear of Elijahu's death.

"It's very sad. This right here is something that will take a while to get over," resident Marilynn Franklin said Thursday night. "Not just me, but this whole apartment complex. You see people out here, they aren't out here just to see what happened, they're out here out of concern."

The Dallas Medical Examiner is performing an autopsy on Elijahu Perez to determine the exact cause of death.

Chloe Menager remains in the Dallas County Jail and is being held on a $1 million bond.
