FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Fort Worth are investigating a Tuesday morning shooting that left one person dead. The incident happened at about 8:30 a.m. at a house near the intersection of Miami Springs Drive and Sarasota Springs Drive, in the far south part of the city.

Neighbors said that they heard a single gunshot and then looked outside to find a man dead in the driveway of a home.

According to nearby residents, this might have started as a possible burglary or home invasion attempt. Neighbors speculated that the homeowner shot the would-be intruder, who then collapsed in the driveway. Officials confirmed that one person had been pronounced dead at the scene.

MedStar was called to the neighborhood, but did not transfer anybody to the hospital.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators reported to the scene and have been working in a large area which had was roped off with police tape. Meanwhile, officers elsewhere might be searching for a second suspect who may have escaped in a black sedan.
