4 Dead In 5-Vehicle Crash In Collin County

COLLIN COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - Four people were killed and multiple people were injured in a five-vehicle crash on SH 121 at CR 528 around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Six people were rushed to area hospitals according to DPS.  Two were taken by air ambulance.

One of the victims seriously injured is 4-years-old.

Shortly before 9:00 p.m. three of the hospitalized patients were discharged.

Three other people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

SH 121 was closed in both directions.

The crash happened near Westminster.

According to preliminary information from DPS, a Pontiac Grand Prix traveling north on SH 121 slowed in the roadway and was struck from behind by a red Dodge pickup. 

The Grand Prix spun into the southbound lane where it was hit by a southbound Ford Focus. 

The Ford Focus spun into the northbound lane and was struck by a northbound Ford F450 utility truck. 

A blue Subaru was traveling south and was struck by the Grand Prix as it spun in the roadway. The Subaru entered the west ditch and rolled on its side.

There were four people inside the Pontiac Grand Prix.  Two died at the scene and two were rushed to Medical City McKinney with serious injuries. 

The three people in the Dodge pickup were taken to Medical City McKinney with non-life-threatening injuries. 

There were four people in the Ford Focus.  Two died at the scene and two were taken to Medical City Plano with serious injuries. 

The driver of the Ford utility truck was taken by air ambulance to Medical City Plano with serious injuries. 

The driver of the Subaru was taken to Medical City McKinney with serious injuries. 

DPS has not released any details on the ages or identities of the victims.
