DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A fatal accident in North Dallas left one person dead early Sunday morning.
The accident happened on the southbound exit ramp of the Dallas North Tollway near the President George Bush Turnpike around 5 am.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Lonny Haschel, "The preliminary investigation indicates that the Nissan Sentra — for an as-yet undetermined reason — had crashed, and was already in the roadway, upside-down." "Two motorcyclists who were on the ramp were unable to avoid the collision and struck that overturned vehicle," Haschel continued.
Two motorcycles -- one Honda and one Kawasaki -- that were also traveling south on the ramp hit the Nissan. The driver of the Kawasaki Motorcycle died at the scene.
The female driver of the Nissan was taken to Medical Center of Plano with serious injuries. The driver of the Honda was taken to Baylor Hospital in Plano with serious injuries.
The crash was still being investigated.
Police are relying on witnesses to help the piece together the details of this investigation.
