Police Believe Argument Over Parking Spot Caused 1 Dead, 1 Injured In Uptown Dallas Shooting

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas police said a man was shot to death from inside his vehicle Sunday morning in Uptown Dallas after what they believe to have stemmed from a fight over a parking spot.

Dallas police arrived at 3000 Routh Street at around 2:15 a.m. They said they found two victims had been shot from inside the vehicle.

One of the victims was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds. A medical examiner identified him as 29-year-old Demondre Green.

The other victim was the passenger in the vehicle and was rushed to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

"We just watched from the inside window...yeah there were tons of people out there already," said Juan Arquez, a witness who heard the shooting. "I know they were arguing over a parking spot.

This is at least the third violet incident to happen in the Uptown area in about a month.

Police have no identified any suspects.

"A little traumatic to be living right by the place where that happens," said Elliot Bell, an Uptown resident.

Bell said he personally feels safe living in Uptown, but he believes these incidents stem from what's happening here.

"A lot of people come here to have fun," said Bell. "I don't think it's got anything to do with it being in Dallas or being in this specific neighborhood," said Bell. "If you've got alcohol and bars like this all in one place it's going to be a little bit more dangerous."

Some employees at the bars nearby said they've handed over their surveillance tapes to police. Police hope to get more information from those tapes.
