NFL Draft: Cowboys, NFC East updates
(CBSDFW.com) - Draft night is finally here.
The first round of the NFL draft starts at 7:00 P.M. and Dallas Cowboys fans are anxious to see what Jerry Jones and the organization will do. Currently, Dallas has the 24th pick, but Jones has previously said he would be willing to move up in the draft.
Cowboys fans will also be watching to see what the New York Giants (#5 and #7), Philadelphia Eagles (#15 and #18), and Washington Commanders (#11) will do during the first round.
This page will update throughout the night with draft updates from the Cowboys and the rest of the teams in the NFC East.
We'll also have live draft updates from Bill Jones and Desmond Purnell from The Star in Frisco at 6:30, 8:00, and 9:00 P.M. on CBS News DFW.
Cowboys' Smith has close ties to Texas
The Cowboys newest offensive lineman, Tyler Smith, has close ties to the DFW area being a Fort Worth native coming out of North Crowley High School. Smith was named an All-American during his freshman year at Tulsa.
Cowboys select Tulsa OL Tyler Smith at 24
The Dallas Cowboys selected Tulsa offensive lineman Tyler Smith with the 24th overall pick of the 2022 NFL draft.
Eagles make blockbuster trade for Titans' A.J. Brown
The Cowboys defense will have a high-profile receiver to cover this season in A.J. Brown. The Philadelphia Eagles traded their 18th and 101st pick to the Tennessee Titans for the Pro Bowl Wideout. Brown joins a receiving core of DeVonta Smith and Quez Watkins. The Titans took WR Treylon Burks from Arkansas with the 18th pick.
Commanders select WR Jahan Dotson at 16
The Washington Commanders have selected Penn State WR Jahan Dotson as the No. 16 pick in the draft.
Eagles trade up to get DT Davis
The Philadelphia Eagles traded up in the draft in an effort to improve their defense. The team traded their 15th overall pick to the Houston Texans in exchange for the 13th pick, in which they took Georgia defensive tackle Jordan Davis. The Eagles also gave up their 2022 4th round pick and two 5th round picks in the trade.
Commanders trade details
The Commanders received the 16th overall pick as well as a 3rd round and 4th round pick from the New Orleans Saints in exchange for the 11th overall pick in the draft. The Saints took Ohio State Wide Receiver Chris Olave with that pick.
Washington trades #11 pick to the Saints
The Washington Commanders have traded their 11th overall pick to the New Orleans Saints.
OT Neal taken by Giants at 7
Alabama's Evan Neal is headed to the big apple with the New York Giants taking the offensive tackle with the 7th overall pick.
Giants take DE Thibodeaux at 5
The New York Giants added to their defensive line with the 5th overall pick of the draft. They selected defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux out of Oregon.
The Giants won't have long until their next pick, having the 7th overall selection.
Edge rushers taken with top two picks
One of the top needs for the Dallas Cowboys is edge rusher. However, two top prospects have already been taken off the board. Georgia's Trayvon Walker was taken by the Jacksonville Jaguars at #1 and Michigan's Aidan Hutchinson was taken at #2 by the Detroit Lions. As of 7:25 P.M., the Cowboys still hold the 24th pick of the first round.
