Demonstrators gathered Wednesday at Union Park, a few blocks from the United Center.
The goal is to help people who travel to Illinois from states where access to reproductive services has been limited since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
"Maybe the organizers couldn't anticipate the wild response from the floor of the United Center," Taylor wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
"We had a group that showed up, and they showed up with the intent on committing acts of violence and vandalism. That was their intent," Chicago Police Supt. Larry Snelling said

The group Behind Enemy Lines organized the protest, which began at 7 p.m. at the Israeli Consulate, which is located in the Accenture Tower.
The nurses hit the picket line Monday morning, accusing the hospital of unfair labor practices.
Thousands marched in a show of solidarity with Palestine and calling for an end to U.S. funding to Israel. A security fence was breached during the marching.
"My wife's not here, and I don't want anybody talking to her about this, but she is my term limit, so if all of you want to talk to her, and convince her one way or another by the way, you're welcome to do that," Pritzker told delegates on the first day of the DNC.
The ages of the victims range from 16 to 59, according to police.
The protest group said they would still continue fighting for a longer protest march route than the city has allowed.
