Samantha Chaney joined WBZ-TV in September 2024 as a multi-skilled journalist and reporter.
A Minnesota native, she has now called the East Coast her home for the past 7 years. Before moving to Boston, she worked in New York City as a general assignment reporter at News 12 The Bronx, where she covered a wide range of impactful stories and was nominated for a New York Emmy Award as part of the station's team coverage of record flooding in the community.
Samantha has always considered herself part of the CBS family. She grew up in a newsroom, following in her father's footsteps. He was a photojournalist at WCCO-TV in Minneapolis for 46 years. Prior to News 12, she also worked in various off-air roles for the CBS Political Unit, CBS This Morning, and the CBS Evening News with Norah O'Donnell.
Chaney is a proud alumna of Howard University, where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism and political science. She also earned a master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.
When Chaney isn't reporting at WBZ, you can find her trying new restaurants around the city, traveling the world, and spending time with her family and friends.
