Madeleine May studied journalism at Northwestern University and started her career as a National Geographic Young Explorer, reporting from South Africa and Mozambique. Before coming to CBS, she covered the 2020 and 2022 elections for VICE News with a focus on misinformation and voting rights. Previously, she was based in Eastern Europe reporting on corruption and organized crime for OCCRP. She is a recipient of the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in TV Political Journalism for her work documenting threats to election workers. She is a two-time NATAS Emmy Award winner, a Webby winner for best News & Politics series, and a 2024 ICFJ Disarming Disinformation fellow.
