Joe Ruiz is a managing editor of CBSNews.com, having joined the newsroom in January 2023. Before that, he spent five years at CNN Politics planning and coordinating weekend digital news teams. He previously worked at NPR, where he led most of its digital news operation while helping to establish the network's presence on emerging platforms.
He lives in San Antonio and earned a mass communication degree from Texas State University. He is a past vice president of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and currently serves on the board of directors at the San Antonio Report, a nonprofit news source serving his hometown.
He was part of the Seattle Times team that won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Reporting.
