City of Evanston opening two cooling centers amid dangerous heat
With intense heat expected Thursday and Friday, the City of Evanston is urging residents to keep cool during the potentially dangerous weather.

It comes after a 32-year-old UPS driver was grazed by a bullet Tuesday while delivering packages in Humboldt Park at Trumbull and Chicago.
Rayvon Parker, 32, was arrested on Tuesday in the 3100 block of South Michigan Avenue.
So far, mosquitos that tested positive for the virus have been found in Evanston, Glenview, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove, Northfield, and Skokie.
Police say two men, 51 and 57, were approached by two unknown armed suspects who demanded their property.
A 911 caller reported driving by the business and seeing flames outside in the parking lot area.
The teen was identified as one of the suspects who took property at gunpoint from multiple victims.
Illinois State Police said troopers responded to of a single-car crash involving a vehicle that ran off the roadway.
The victim was taken to Vista Medical Center East where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room, the office said.
The teen was charged with five felony counts of armed robbery.
Police said around 3 a.m. the victim was struck by the vehicle while walking, in the 6100 block of South Ashland Ave.
The crash caused several crossings to close throughout the day to the west of Franklin Street along the track.
A group of individuals were standing on the sidewalk, in the 2100 block of West 54th Place, when an unknown suspect fired shots from the west alley – striking the three victims.
Officers found a 29-year-old man inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head.
Deerfield police said officers were dispatched to the area of Robert York and Osterman for a report of a person struck by a vehicle.
