U.S. citizen killed in West Bank amid escalating violence
The American was killed when a gunman opened fire near the West Bank city of Jericho on Monday.

The leader of the private army didn't give any specific reason for the reduction in the company's role in the war.
"Putin seeks to rob Ukraine of its future by taking its children," said U.S. State Department spokesperson Ned Price.
Experts say the window for saving people trapped under collapsed buildings has nearly closed.
The 10-day-old baby didn't cry as rescue workers pulled him from under the wreckage of his collapsed building.
"We cleared the dust and found the baby with the umbilical cord (intact), so we cut it and my cousin took her to hospital," rescuer says.
Tens of thousands more were injured, and rescuers were still racing to find survivors under the rubble of thousands of collapsed buildings.
Syria, which has endured 12 years of brutal civil war, is facing particular difficulty after Monday's devastating earthquake.
Frantic search efforts were still underway in both countries, with an untold number of people still trapped in rubble.

The majority of the missing children are teenage boys from Albania, the British government said.
