The man was shot late Friday evening and succumbed to his injuries on Monday, police said.
It happened at around 8:45 p.m. at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and S. New England Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The man living at the elaborate encampment, which had a bathroom and a kitchen, said he had been in the area for five years.
