Twin Cities mayors call for changes to state gun laws

The call comes less than a week after the mass shooting at a Minneapolis church that killed two children and injured 21 others.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is making calls to lawmakers in an effort to push for a special session on gun control this fall, according to a senior administrative official familiar with the matter.
According to U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson, officials are working to confirm, as they believe, that the shooter acted alone. They're also working to establish a motive.
"I took all three of them. I said, 'let's sit down,'" Pat Scallen said. "And I tried to calm them down. And the one little girl who got shot in the head asked me to hold her hand the whole time, and I did."
"My friend Victor like, saved me though. Because he laid on top of me. But he got hit," said fifth grade student Weston Halsne. "I was super scared for him. But I think now he's OK."
