U.S. presses Israel for timetable in its offensive

U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan was in Israel Thursday, asking Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for a timeline on his country's offensive on Hamas in Gaza. Two U.S. officials told CBS News that Israel's current phase should be complete in two to three weeks, followed by lower levels of bombing for several months. The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry said at least 18,000 people have been killed in Gaza since Oct. 7. Ramy Inocencio has more.

Zelenskyy meets with lawmakers on Capitol Hill

On Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to meet with all U.S. senators and House Speaker Mike Johnson to make his appeal directly for more funding to fight off Russian forces. Zelesnkyy will then meet with President Biden, who invited the Ukrainian president to the White House in an attempt to add pressure on Congress to pass a national security package by the end of the year. CBS News' Weijia Jiang reports from the White House.
