Tim Walz, JD Vance on U.S. democracy

"CBS Evening News" anchor and managing editor Norah O'Donnell asked Ohio Sen. JD Vance during the vice presidential debate if he would seek to challenge the 2024 election results even if every governor certifies them. Vance insisted former President Donald Trump peacefully surrendered power after the 2020 election and blamed technology companies and the current administration for threatening America's democracy. Walz said he was alarmed by Trump's actions on January 6, 2021, and rebutted Vance's censorship allegations.

During Tuesday's vice presidential debate, CBS News chief foreign affairs correspondent and "Face the Nation" moderator Margaret Brennan asked Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Ohio Sen. JD Vance about immigration. Ohio Sen. JD Vance claimed immigration policies enacted by Vice President Kamala Harris allowed the flow of fentanyl into the U.S. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz rebutted Vance and criticized former President Donald Trump for opposing a legislative solution to reforming immigration.

Walz, Vance react to Iran's attack on Israel

Tuesday's vice presidential debate began with a question on the Middle East. CBS News chief foreign affairs correspondent and "Face the Nation" moderator Margaret Brennan asked Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Ohio Sen. JD Vance if they would approve a preemptive strike by Israel on Iran. Walz highlighted his support for Israel before pivoting to criticizing Trump and his foreign policy, while Vance said it's up to Israel to decide what it needs to do.
