Hearing on domestic terrorism in America

Lawmakers held a hearing Wednesday to address the rise of domestic terrorism in America. Testimony focused on the failure of the U.S. government to adequately address growing white nationalism and domestic extremism in the years leading up to the attack on the Capitol on January 6. CBS News homeland security and justice reporter Nicole Sganga joins CBSN's "Red & Blue" anchor Elaine Quijano to discuss the details of the hearing, including scrutiny some Republicans are facing for alleged ties to "Stop the Steal" rallies.

WorldView: 11 Chinese miners rescued

Rescue workers in China extracted 11 trapped miners but also found the bodies of nine who died. Also, more than 3,000 people in Russia were detained in anti-Putin demonstrations across the country, and police in the Netherlands used water cannons and tear gas to clear demonstrators angry over new coronavirus restrictions. Meanwhile, Australian officials approved the use of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine. CBS News foreign correspondent Ian Lee joined "CBSN AM" from London with those stories.

FBI monitoring potential threats ahead of inauguration

The Pentagon has deployed 25,000 National Guard members to secure the 59th presidential inauguration. Several have already been dismissed after "questionable behavior" was flagged during the FBI's vetting process. CBS News chief justice and homeland correspondent Jeff Pegues, and then Frank Figliuzzi, former assistant FBI director for counterintelligence, joins CBSN's Elaine Quijano to discuss the security situation in Washington.
