Blinken: Too many Palestinians killed

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken welcomed Israel's agreeing to daily humanitarian pauses in its offensive in northern Gaza, but said Friday more needs to be done. "Far too many Palestinians have been killed. Far too many who suffered these past weeks, and we want to do everything possible to prevent harm to them and to maximize the assistance that gets to them," Blinken said, speaking in New Delhi. Israel's possible post-war role in Gaza

It is not clear who would run Gaza -- home to some 2.3 million people -- if Israel's military takes Hamas out of the Palestinian territory, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted Monday about his vision. "I think Israel will, for an indefinite period, have the overall security responsibility, because we've seen what happens when we don't have it," he told ABC News.
