Blinken makes unannounced visit to West Bank

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken brought his frenetic Mideast diplomatic push on the Israel-Hamas war to the occupied West Bank on Sunday, meeting with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in his latest bid to ease civilian suffering in the Gaza Strip and begin to sketch out a post-conflict scenario for the territory. CBS News intelligence and national security reporter Olivia Gazis has more on Blinken's trip to the Middle East to try to contain the war.

Houthis take responsibility for Israel attack

Houthi rebels in Yemen are claiming responsibility for multiple missile and drone attacks aimed at Israel after the Israel Defense Forces earlier this week said it intercepted a strike from Yemen. There are concerns the Houthis, who are backed by Iran, could draw the wider region into the battle between Israel and Hamas. Farea Al-Muslimi, a research fellow at Chatham House's Middle East and North Africa Programme, joined CBS News to discuss the group.

What we know about Rafah crossing evacuations

Some foreign passport holders in Gaza were able to enter Egypt via the Rafah border crossing Wednesday for the first time since the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks on Israel. On Tuesday, Israel carried out airstrikes and ground operations in the Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza, targeting what it called a Hamas "terrorist stronghold." Palestinian officials said civilians were killed in the strikes. CBS News senior foreign correspondent Charlie D'Agata reports there were more airstrikes in the area Wednesday morning.
