Unrest, violence continues in Haiti

Haiti has been grappling with myriad crises that have spread across the nation over the last month. Widespread gasoline and diesel shortages have emerged after armed gangs blocked the nation's main fuel terminal, and these gangs have also severed access to clean water, food and other essentials as Haiti also deals with a deadly cholera outbreak. Amy Wilentz, author of "The Rainy Season: Haiti Since Duvalier" and a professor of literary journalism at the University of California, Irvine, joined CBS News to discuss.

Charges to be announced in Paul Pelosi attack

The suspect in an attack that left House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband Paul hospitalized with a skull fracture is set to have charges against him announced today. It comes as CBS News has confirmed that the suspect had a list of other targets he may have been planning to attack, as well. Wall Street Journal congressional reporter Siobhan Hughes joins "CBS News Mornings" with updates on the case and the danger of misinformation about it circulating online.

Affirmative action before Supreme Court again

The Supreme Court is set to once again consider the role of affirmative action in college admissions. Decades-old policy allows special preference for women and people of color, but challengers say the policy discriminates against Asian-Americans. Brazil has elected a new president. Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, a former president, barely defeated incumbent Jair Bolsonaro. And the Powerball jackpot in Monday night’s drawing will be at least an estimated -- $1 billion.

Musk said to have taken control of Twitter

Sources tell The Associated Press and other outlets that Elon Musk has officially taken over twitter – and ousted some top executives. Wth the midterm elections less than two weeks away, more than 15 million people have already voted early, according to a University of Florida analysis., showing over 10 million mail-in ballots have been cast so far--and over 5 million in person. And the World Series is set to begin, with the Houston Astros hosting the Philadelphia Phillies.
