How authorities are tackling domestic threats

There's been a wave of arrests of people who, police say, threatened to carry out mass shootings after this month's massacres in Dayton and El Paso. The suspects include a truck driver in Indianapolis who allegedly threatened to shoot and stab people at a Tennessee church and a 15-year-old in Florida accused of posting a mass shooting threat on a video game platform. CBS News national security analyst Fran Townsend was a homeland security and counterterrorism adviser for President George W. Bush. She joins “CBS This Morning” to discuss how law enforcement are tackling the "epidemic" of domestic terrorism threats.

Grandfather to plead guilty in girl’s death

An Indiana grandfather will plead guilty to negligent homicide after his 18-month-old granddaughter fell to her death from the window of a cruise ship in Puerto Rico in 2019. Salvatore Anello initially pleaded not guilty in Chloe Wiegand’s death before he was offered a deal that spares him from going to jail and from having to admit to facts alleged by prosecutors. David Begnaud shares a statement given to CBS News from the grieving grandfather.
